Congratulations to Falck employee Jim Tole, Aviation Fire Fighter at Aberdeen Airport Fire Station for coming in first place!
Jim Tole from Red Watch Aberdeen successfully defend his title of Aberdeen’s midnight Runway Run on Saturday 27th June.
This is the 3rd Time Jim Has won the 4K race in an event record time of 12 minutes 43 seconds.
At 47 years old Jim was under a little bit of pressure to win the race on his home turf especially as he was up against some very good up and coming rivals from other running clubs. Jim was actually working nightshift that night but as the Airport was closed, he was permitted time off to complete the run and then had to be back on shift after the race, so his preparation was not ideal especially as Saturday night at the Fire Station is take away and McFlurry night. Needless to say, Jim showed incredible discipline and refrained from his McFlurry!!! Jim was also under no illusion from his fellow firefighters that he simply could not return to the station unless he had the winner’s medal, and he did not let us down.
Falck Fire Services UK provided lighting for the race, so we were there to cheer Jim and the other runners on every step of the way. Jim is a legend in the running world in the Northeast of Scotland but to see him in action was something special, what a great achievement winning it 3 times you really made us all proud well done again Jim.
Due to the success of the Aberdeen Midnight Run, it received a motion in the Scottish Parliament for the organising of the event and to the Companies who sponsored it, including Falck Fire Services UK Ltd.
